Cross docking can be done to transfer merchandise from one type of truck to another without generating storage or warehousing costs. On many occasions, it is done for the transfer of merchandise in the “last mile”, especially for merchandise that comes from other states and must be distributed in smaller trucks.
Cross Docking can also be done when unloading merchandise from a truck, palletizing it and loading it again in the same truck, to make delivery to the end customer easier.
Logistics Miami is a specialist cross docking facility.
Cross-docking is a practice in logistics of unloading materials from a manufacturer or mode of transportation directly to the customer or another mode of transportation, with little or no storage in between. This may be done to change the type of conveyance, to sort material intended for different destinations, or to combine material from different origins into transport vehicles (or containers) with the same or similar destinations.
