Fulfillment Service

Fulfillment is a term mostly used in E-Commerce, it is an essential part of the process including:  warehousing (storage), inventory control, pick, small assembling, packing and shipping.  A reliable fulfillment process is a key factor for the success of online businesses, it will keep customers happy and will help to build trust in your products. Entrepreneurs can either outsource the whole fulfillment process or do it partially.

An end-to-end solution will include: Keep products in stock, pick products from warehouse shelves, pack them, hand them to carrier o courier for delivery to customers,  and then send an automated e-mail response to customers to let them know their packages are in transit. They can also handle credit-card processing, supply current inventory levels to the website, reorder products, offer call-center services, send notices of shipping and handle returns.

A partial fulfillment service  may include Storage, pick and pack and handle merchandise to carrier or courier companies.

If you’re using your hosting company for shopping cart and credit-card functions or doing this in-house, you can just use some of the fulfillment companies’ options such as pick-and-pack, returns processing and customer service support.

Cross Docking

Cross docking can be done to transfer merchandise from one type of truck to another without generating storage or warehousing costs. On many occasions, it is done for the transfer of merchandise in the “last mile”, especially for merchandise that comes from other states and must be distributed in smaller trucks.

Cross Docking can also be done when unloading merchandise from a truck, palletizing it and loading it again in the same truck, to make delivery to the end customer easier.

Logistics Miami is a specialist cross docking facility.

Cross-docking is a practice in logistics of unloading materials from a manufacturer or mode of transportation directly to the customer or another mode of transportation, with little or no storage in between. This may be done to change the type of conveyance, to sort material intended for different destinations, or to combine material from different origins into transport vehicles (or containers) with the same or similar destinations.
